Press Release: International workshop on copyrights in book publishing in Armenia and a presentation of Book Platform Project to take place within Yerevan World Book Capital Program
The Book Platform project organizes workshop entitled The Role of Copyright System in the Promotion of Publishing as a Cultural Industry. It will take place on 7-8 November 2012 at "Vivaldi" Hall of Golden Tulip hotel (14 Abovyan str., Yerevan), Republic of Armenia. The Book Platform project is funded by the European Union and is implemented in frames of the Eastern Partnership Culture programme.
The workshop is organized by the Book Platform Project, the International Publishers Association and National Publishers Association of Armenia and will take place in the framework of The VI International Forum of Translators and Publishers supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia in the framework of Yerevan World Book Capital 2012.
The workshop will highlight the importance of copyrights for social, cultural and economic development in Armenia and in the world. The program will address specific issues of the copyright system and its implementation in Armenia in the light of current European practices and solutions. The speakers and participants include prominent Armenian and European experts on copyrights as well as public officials, publishers, book organizations, writers and translators.
The first day of the event will focus more on the copyrights protection mechanisms in Armenia and abroad, followed by a discussion on implementation of legislation in Armenia and worldwide between copyright holders, public authorities and experts. The spotlight of the second day will be on buying and selling rights internationally.
The Book Platform project achievements will be presented on 6th November, 17 h, at Matenadaran, during the official openning of the VI International Forum of Translators and Publishers. The project will be presented by the Next Page's executive director Mrs. Yana Genova.
THE BOOK PLATFORM is funded by the European Union and is implemented in frames of the Eastern Partnership Culture programme in support of the role of culture in the region's sustainable development and promotion of regional cooperation among public institutions, civil society, cultural and academic organisations in the Eastern Partnership region and with the European Union.
