Events Participation: Ukrainian Participants at Leipzig Book Fair 2014
With the support of the Events Participation Support Scheme, three translators
from the "Prostory" periodical – Nelia Vakhovska, Nataliya Tchermalykh and Vasyl Lozynskyi, and two cultural managers from the International Literature Corporation "Meridian Czernowitz" - Sviatoslav Pomerantsev and Yevheniia Lopata, had the possibility to participate in Leipzig Book Fair, which was held on March 13-16, 2014.
All participants emphasized that they "managed to implement a number of plans and fully achieved the aims of participation in the event".
The main activity of the participants from the "Prostory" periodical was participating in the discussion "Ukraine in Europe: Vision, Configuration, Identity" within the focus program "Tranzyt – Literature from Poland, Ukraine and Belarus". The discussion concerned the events, which happened in Ukraine in the latest months. During the discussion a special issue of the "Prostory" magazine called "Documenting Maidan" was also presented; Nelia Vakhovska and Nataliya Tchermalykh performed the function of speakers. Vasyl Lozynskyi read two of his poems, translated by Halyna Latsanych particularly for this thematic issue of the magazine.
The trip of these three participants was not limited to Leipzig. On their way home they also visited Berlin, where presentation of the periodical was held in the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation. It was very popular,and among the audience there were a lot of regular visitors of the salon, that's why the discussion was rather intense.
