First Training and Project Kick-Off Meeting in Tbilisi in March
On 26-28th March the Book Platform project conducted its first international training for non-governmental organizations from Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine working
in the field of books and reading. In fact, under the heading "NGOs in the book sector" we had professional associations of publishers, librarians, booksellers and translators as well as reading
development organizations.
The first Tbilisi training triggered participants to start strategic planning process for their organizations and to apply creative approach to fundraising. As we all know from our (sometimes bitter) experience, having a strategy and being successful in fundraising are the two sides of the same coin of running a healthy organization. The program combined the two topics in Pragmatic Dreaming moderated by Sue Kay (UK). The passionate, out-of-program discussions on professional issues from the three countries proved once again the need for book activists from the region to have more opportunities for networking and exchange. As one of the participants put it later on: "Дорогие коллеги! Спасибо Вам за чудесный семинар и веселые вечера!" ("Dear colleagues, thank you for the great seminar and the joyful evenings!")
