Three-Day Working Visits of European Editors, Agents and Cultural Journalists to Tbilisi
From May 29 to 31, 2014, an
impressive group of 15 editors, agents, cultural journalists and professionals from six European countries were hosted in Georgia within the Literary Forum & Dialogue
2014. The participants arrived for a three-day visit to meet local publishers, literary agents, journalists and writers. All three days were tremendously intensive and full of
events. The Editorial Visits-Georgia component of Book Platform project was part of the Literary Forum & Dialogue 2014. The
Forum was organized by Next Page Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia and Georgian National Book
Centre, in cooperation with the Georgian Publishers and Booksellers Association, the Goethe Institute in Tbilisi, the French Institute and British Council. Read more...

Professional Conversation-Discussion on Reading Habits in Georgia
On 31st May the book store "Book City" in Tbilisi hosted a professional conversation-discussion on reading habits in Georgia, based on the
results of the research done in 2012, conducted within the Book Platform project. The discussion was attended by professional researchers, publishers, cultural managers and other
stakeholders who gathered to analyze the results of the study and discuss about the recommendations regarding to readership policy in Georgia. Read more...

Tbilisi Book Festival: "A discomfort zone for illiterate people and a heaven for bibliophiles"
XVI Tbilisi International Book Fair took place from May 29 to June 1, 2014, at Pavilion XI at ExpoGeorgia. The book fair hosted numerous public lectures, book presentations, literature meetings and so forth. The Book Platform project had its special place at the festival - visitors were welcome to attend its stand at the exhibition center, and a professional conversation-discussion on reading habits in Georgia was held. The project raised special interest among visitors - promotional materials and studies on "Translations into Georgian since 1991" and "Reading Habits in Georgia" were distributed very successfully, so the interested visitors received plenty of information about the project and its activities. Forthcoming: Promotion of Literature in Translation Internships
Irine Tchogoshvili (Georgia), Project Manager at Program in Support of Georgian Book and Literature at the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, and Lianna Aghamyanfor (Armenia), Program Assistant at Armenian Literature Foundation, will spend a 7-day internship at the Dutch Foundation for Literature from June 18 to June 25, 2014, supported by the Book Platform project. The interns will have the chance to learn more on the preparations for Guest of Honour program at the Frankfurt Book Fair, national stands and cultural programs, working in a conjunction with the private sector, decision-taking procedures & criteria, establishing international partnerships and media & communication activities. |
